The story behind the art work:

Celebrating Purple- The colour of creativity

Creativity...it starts as a small pinhead at the crack of dawn on a cold morning, yanking me wide awake. Just a speck of yellow that I want to ignore closing my eyes tight and snuggling deeper under the blankets. "My sketch book is not here," "I shall be busy this day in hospital," "The traffic will be heavy today"...I tell myself all the demotivational excuses to keep that liliputtian spark from growing, hoping it might just burn itself out. But it gets under my lids dancing & changing shapes, tones and shadows and suggesting what I can do. By mid- morning, it has become a quiet flame following me in shadows as I talk, rest, work or drive, nudging me to do something, to bring it to life. I now know that if I try to blow it, it might only get bigger, and will hurry me more. "Stay there" I keep It chained till after a late lunch & 40 winks. By then, the flame is a burning log of wet wood- red, blue & yellows dancing with an acrid carbon smell. It is waiting to drag or even chase me to the studio to pull out my art materials & start working. It doesnt allow me to have a peaceful cuppa filter coffee. I don't even know what I want to draw or paint, but just know that I must before the fire consumes me or worse still, dies down in disappointment & not return again....

So I step into my workshop, and as I gather my things to start work, I realise the flame has also lighted a spark on each of my canvas, colours and brushes as we happily get together, burning, warming and lighting ourselves...a painting begins to procreate and gets born.
